Obituary of James Vickers

James E. ?Jim? Vickers, 81, along time Salisbury Center resident, passed away on Wednesday February 1, 2006 at Little Falls Hospital. He was born October 18, 1924 in Sprakers, NY the son of the late David Edward & Elma (Sassman) Vickers, and was a graduate of Dolgeville High School, class of 1942. He was married to Edna M. Sierocki on November 2, 1963. Mr. Vickers was a World War II Army veteran, enlisting on February 23, 1943 and was honorably discharged on February 22, 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Jim was last employed as a general foreman for the New York State Highway Department in Herkimer, NY. Mr. Vickers was a member of the Salisbury Universalist Church and was a member of the Dogleville Masons and the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club. Jim was an honorary fireman and was an active member of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department. A man dedicated to his family Jim proved himself a loving and caring husband and stepfather. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Edna, a stepdaughter, Jacqueline T. Camp and her husband Joseph of White Salmon, Washington, and a sister, Joyce Near of Dolgeville. In keeping with Jim?s wishes cremation will take place under the direction of the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home, 3 Faille Ave., Dolgeville, NY. There are no calling hours. Graveside services will take place at Salisbury Rural Cemetery in the spring.
