Katharine A. Vogel, age 84, of 202 Second St., Ilion, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at home. She was born on December 17, 1921 in Ilion, the daughter of Charles and Mae (Kibbe) Hayes and graduated from Ilion Central High School. On February 15, 1941, she was married to Charles W. Vogel at the Ilion Baptist Church. Katharine enjoyed her summers at her camp in Canadarago Lake and her winters in Florida and Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed traveling. Survivors include her husband, Charles; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Krick of Murrells Inlet, S. Carolina, Kim and Kenneth Lien of Carthage, NY; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Mary Ann Vogel of Ilion; five grandchildren, Kathy Young and her husband, Keith, M/Sgt. Scott Vogel and his wife, Kim, Brian Vogel and his wife, Brandy, Jennifer Walters and her husband, S/Sgt. Jessie, Erin Lien and her fiance, Joseph Miner; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Kyle Young, Jace and Tanner Vogel; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and special neighbors, Lloyd and Bonnie. She was predeceased by four sisters, Pauline Guile, Eleanor Allen, Betty Pardee and Mary Lou Barton; her son-in-law, Ray Krick; her granddaughter, Raelyn Krick. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Katharine's Memorial Service, 6 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2006, at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Rev. Paul Smith, Pastor of the Ilion Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. The family wishes to thank the 5th floor staff at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, for their care and compassion. Also a very special thank you from the family to Katharine's friends and caregivers at the Little Falls Hospital Dialysis Units for their constant support.
