Obituary of Stanley Weinschreider

Mr. Stanley B. Weinschreider 85 formerly of 65 South Helmer Avenue Dolgeville, and a resident of the M M Ewing Continuing Care Center at Canandaigua, died Saturday July 29, 2006 at the center. Stan was born in Dolgeville on July 22, 1921 the son of Stanley A. and Katherine (Evans) Weinschreider and was a graduate of Dolgeville High School, class of 1939. A veteran of WW II he served honorably in the Army from July 1942 until he was discharged in January 1946 with the rank of Tech 4. Stan served with Company B 67th Signal Battalion. His service was in the European Theater, with battles fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and the Philippines. He was awarded the following service medals American service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, European-African Middle Eastern service Medal, Good Conduct medal and the WW II Victory Medal. Upon returning from the war Stan continued his education by graduating from Syracuse University. His marriage to the former Helen B. Kanuck took place on July 19, 1947 in Dolgeville. Stan retired from the Gehring Tricot Company of Dolgeville in 1983. After this retirement he worked in Herb Philipson?s in Herkimer and most recently in the Dolgeville Big M. Stan was of the Catholic Faith, a former member of the American Legion Post and the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club. He is survived by his wife Helen who resides at 33 Chosen Spot Apts Canandaigua, NY 14424, a Son and his wife Brian & Barbara Weinschreider of Ocala, Fl, a Daughter and her husband Barbara and Phelps Greene of Canandaigua, His Grandchildren Dr. Jessica Greene ? Zuniga of Seattle, Washington, Michelle Greene of Los Angles, CA, a Grandson Preston Weinschreider of Ocala, Fl and a special canine ?Morgan?, his Nephews Robert and William DiBrienza. A memorial service will be held on Sunday August 13, 2006 at 12 Noon at the St. Joseph?s Cemetery on State Street Dolgeville. There are NO Calling Hours. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville.
