Obituary of Lena Barone
Mrs. Lena (Raiello) Barone, age 86, a lifelong Little Falls resident passed away early Monday morning, April 25, 2005 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. She was born on January 29, 1919 in Little Falls, the daughter of the late John and Clementina (Guerriero) Raiello, and graduated from Little Falls High School, "Class of 1936". On September 20, 1941 she married Frank Barone, with whom she shared a union of 51 years, one that was blessed with true love and genuine commitment. Mr. Barone passed away on December 3, 1992. Lena was last employed by the former Allegro Shoe Company. She was also a faithful and dedicated communicant of the Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. As a woman who was the epitome of devotion to her family, Lena considered her family to be the centerpiece of her existence. Her door was always open to anyone seeking the welcome and warmth of her hospitality. She loved to center good times around the Italian traditions and customs that she herself was brought up on. Blessed with a warm and generous heart, she also experienced great happiness in spending time with her grandchildren. Throughout the years, the source of her greatest pleasure was her steadfast love for family, her commitment to their well-being, and her enjoyment of their company and togetherness. She is survived by two sons: Richard Barone and wife Nilsa of Utica and Gary Barone and wife Kathy of Little Falls ; three beloved sisters: Michalena Papaleo of Little Falls, Mary Vallone and husband Dominick of Frankfort, and Connie Raiello of Little Falls; two sisters in law: Mary Raiello of Little Falls and Jean Barone of Herkimer; her cherished grandchildren: Nicholas, Nicole, Michael and Gina Barone and Angela and Karla Barone; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers: Charles Raiello and Anthony Raiello. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. Lena's funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Thurs. morn, April 28, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered by Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where she will be laid to rest.
