Obituary of Andrew Belden

Andrew J. Belden Jr. 80 of Parkside Courts Dolgeville, died Sunday August 21, 2005 at Valley Health services where he was a patient for the past week. He was born in Norwich, New York on February 14, 1925 the son of the late Andrew J. and Ella S. (Kilreur) Belden and was educated in schools in Norwich. His marriage to Eleanor Gray took place on July 26, 1946 in Norwich, New York and they relocated to the Dolgeville area. Mrs. Belden predeceased him on April 17, 1986. A veteran of WW II he served honorably in the Army from March 1943 until February 1946 being honorably discharged with the rank of Tec5. He served with Company C 1289th Combat Engineer Battalion. His medals included the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic- Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World war II Victory Medal and the European- African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. Andrew was employed by the Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville as a cutter retiring from there in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Little Falls, the Sprite Club in the town of Oppenheim and the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club. Andy also was a member of the following Volunteer Fire departments Hilltop Fire Department, Dolgeville Fire Department and the Salisbury Fire Department. He served many years as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Village of Dolgeville. Surviving him are his Sons Edward Belden and Corliss Belden both of Salisbury, and his Daughter and her husband Artimisha and James Jaikin of Dolgeville, his Grandchildren Tammy Goodwin, Kathleen Darling, James Jaikin Jr. Jessica Belden, Nicholas Belden and Savannah Belden, his great Grandchildren Rebecca Goodwin, Brian Harper Jr. Katelynn Darling, Kaylie Darling, Cassandra Jaikin and Alexia Jaikin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 24, 2005 at 11 AM at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Rev. Rodney Congdon will officiate. Burial will follow in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Calling hours are on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.
