Obituary of Ralph Blasting

Falls-Ralph A. Blasting, 62, of O'Hara Rd., town of Little Falls, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, July 12, 2005 in Faxton/St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford in the presence of his loving family. He was born on November 26, 1942 in Herkimer, son of the late George and Isabelle (Carbone) Blasting and graduated with the Herkimer High School "Class of 1960". On October 2, 1971, Ralph was joined in marriage with the former Patricia Conte in St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls. The couple always shared a mutual respect for one another as well as an abiding love for their family. A veteran of the military, he served with the U.S. Army from 1964-1967. Skilled as a car dealer, Ralph was employed by many local dealerships and was very talented in his chosen field of expertise. He was of the Catholic Faith and a member of the Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. A friend to many in the Mohawk Valley, he was a 40 year member of the Herkimer Elk's Lodge. Family was an important factor in Ralph's life, and he was always attentive to the needs of his loved ones and supportive of them in every way. In terms of his character, Ralph was a good, humorous man and shared countless laughing memories with many; from the days of "Conte's Restaurant" up until his days at the local car dealerships he could always lift you up. Even in his ailing days Ralph could always bring a smile to your face. Where dealing with grieving families could take a big toll, Ralphie always found a way to lift the spirits of his friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home always stopping in to say hi and offer his help. In his spare time he enjoyed classic and antique cars and enjoyed golfing. He always enjoyed the time he spent with his beloved canine companion, "Bud". He leaves his loving wife Patricia L. Blasting at home; two devoted daughters: Sherry Farrington and husband Jamie of Little Falls and Shelly Allen and husband David of Little Falls; his beloved mother in law: Lucy Conte of Little Falls and a special brother in law: Philip Conte also of Little Falls; several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by a infant brother and by his father in law: Philip Conte. The family invites relatives and friends to visitation at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY on Friday, July 15, 2005 from 4- 8 p.m. Members of the Herkimer Elk's are asked to gather at the funeral home to conduct their service at 6:30 p.m. His funeral will commence at 10:00 am on Sat. morn., July 16, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered by Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor, officiating.
