Obituary of Cheryl Blasting

Cheryl Ann (Gabriel) Blasting, 58 of 360 Protection Ave., Apt. L-13, Herkimer, joined her parents in heaven on Friday February 18, 2005. Her passing at Bassett Healthcare came after many years of illness, however during her lifetime, Cheryl touched many hearts. Cheryl was born December 5, 1946 at Little Falls Hospital, the daughter of Ferris & Marfina (Perfetto) Gabriel. She spent most of her life in St. Johnsville. She graduated from St. Johnsville High School in 1966. Cheryl was also a 1967 graduate of the School of Beauty and Culture in Utica. She was employed in various fields of industry including Amsterdam, MDS in Herkimer, and Beech-Nut in Canajoharie. Cheryl?s last employment was with the HARC in Herkimer for several years, where she truly enjoyed her work with the various clients, until her illness forced her to retire. She had a special place in her heart for all of her clients. Cheryl enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve, 331 Station Hospital in Utica, receiving an honorable discharge in 1977. For several years she was married to Scott Blasting of Herkimer. Survivors include 2 sons; Michael DiCamillo and Matthew Gabriel both of Herkimer, a brother; Anthony ?Butch? Gabriel of Little Falls, 2 uncles; Anthony J. Gabriel, Jr. of Herkimer, & Joseph Gabriel and wife Christine of Anaheim, California. Cheryl leaves behind many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins. She also leaves behind her favorite pet canine, Pugsley Charles and 2 pet rabbits, Poppy & Oreo. Also surviving are her close friends including Joyce Irons, Dave Keba, Dr. Luke Handy and the many clients and close associates of her employment. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Ferris & Marfina, 2 aunts, Patricia Gabriel of Herkimer & Connie Scruggs of Chandler, Arizona. At Cheryl?s request there will be no calling hours at this time. A Mass at St. Patrick?s Church in St. Johnsville and interment at St. Johnsville Cemetery will Full Military Honors will be held later in the spring at a date and time to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY.
