Obituary of Richard Bradle

Richard W. "Dick" Bradle, St., age 88, a longtime resident of 39 Harrison Ave., Ilion, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. Dick was born January 22, 1917 in Herkimer, NY, son of Joseph and Alice (Richards) Bradle. He was a graduate of Herkimer High School and Morrisville College where Dick majored in jewelry and watch repair. On April 19, 1941, he was united in marriage to Marie Ann Drennan in Mohawk, NY. They shared a blessed and devoted union of 64 years. Dick was co-owner of Bradle-Montgomery Jewelers in Ilion for many years. He was a patient man that loved intricate work. Dick was proud to be an active jeweler and watch repairman for over 50 years. He was a member of the Church of the Annunciation. Dick's hobbies throughout the years included motorcycles, building and flying remote controlled airplanes, and he enjoyed ice skating, especially speed skating. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife, Marie at home; his children and their spouses, Sister Donna Marie Bradle, CSJ of Cohoes, Lorraine Chapman and her husband, Jon of Manlius, Steven Bradle and his wife, Tina of North Carolina, Thomas "Tom" Bradle and his wife, Joyce of Frankfort, Richard "Rick" Bradle of Ilion, Annette Dunn of Herkimer; his cherished grandchildren, Steven Jr., Christopher, Will and Stephanie Bradle, Shannon and Richard Bradle III, Patrick Dunn, Ryan Carpenter, and Jeff Chapman; one sister, Arthella Hopper of Herkimer; his sister-in-law, Lucille Drennan of SC; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Russell, Howard "Ike" and Steven Bradle; and brother-in-law, James "Jim" Drennan. Family and friends are invited to visitation Friday, November 18th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. Dick's funeral service will be held Saturday commencing at 9:15 a.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation where Father Anthony Barratt, Pastor, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Procession to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, for interment will follow Mass. The Bradle family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for the care and compassion shown to Dick throughout his stay with them.
