Obituary of Theodore Bugaj
Mr. Theodore P. (Ted) Bugaj, age 85, of Little Falls, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2005 after unexpectedly being stricken at home. He was born on October 26, 1920 in Little Falls, NY, a son of the late Piotr and Stefania (Wiesniewski) Bugaj. He graduated from Little Falls High School. On August 3, 1946, he was united in marriage to Frances M. Swietlikowsi at St. Joseph's Church in Herkimer, NY. They shared a blessed union of 58 years until her passing on April 16, 2005. Mr. Bugaj served his country in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting on May 13, 1942. He served as a B-25 Tailgunner in the Pacific Theatre of Operation and was honorably discharged on October 18, 1945 holding the rank of Technical Sergeant. He then served with the New York State Police before joining the Little Falls Police Department. He served the city for many years and retired as Assistant Police Chief, having also held the position of Police Chief for the city. Mr. Bugaj was a proud veteran and a member of the Staff Sgt. Steve Stefula V.F.W. Post in Little Falls, NY. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish in Little Falls and served as a Sunday morning volunteer. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his beloved children, Thomas Bugaj and his wife Helen of DeWitt, NY, Mary Jane Oleszek and her husband, Ted, of Jacksonville, FL; brothers-in-law, Leo Swietlikowski and his wife, Lud, of Herkimer and Donald Swietlikowski and his wife, Dolores, of West Palm Beach, FL; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Yavornitzki and her husband, Steve, of East Herkimer and Frances Bugaj of Mohawk; his special grandchildren, Erika and Matt Bugaj and Michael and Stephen Oleszek; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Jania Bugaj, and his brother, Zygmunt Bugaj. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, from 4-7p.m. His funeral will commence on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 11:15 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 12 p.m., noon, at Holy Family Parish, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where Mr. Bugaj will be laid to rest. The Staff Sgt. Steve Stefula V.F.W. members are asked to gather at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening for services. The Little Falls Police Department and the Little Falls Fireboard members are asked to assemble in a body at 6:30 p.m. for their service.
