Obituary of Donald Bunce

Donald "Buckshot" L. Bunce, age 82, of 10 Marmet St., Mohawk, died Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at home. He was born on March 1, 1922 in Ilion, the son of Delavan and Mary Bunce and attended Ilion schools. Don was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army. On January 10, 1947, he was married to Mary Palante in Ilion. She died on January 8, 2004. At one time Mr. Bunce was employed at Sperry Rand UNIVAC, Ilion, for 26 years. He later worked at Remington Arms Co., Ilion, for 15 years. Don was a member of the Mohawk American Legion and the Ilion Fish & Game Club. Survivors include his son, Stewart Bunce of Ilion; his daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Jim Aversa of Mohawk; five grandchildren, Rick Bunce and his wife, Nancy, Ronald Bunce and his wife, Colleen, Jason Bunce and his wife, Lori, Brittany and Justin Aversa; six great-grandchildren, Shauna, Ashley, Audrey, Anna, Isabella and Jacob; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Lillian Steele of Broadalbin, Ella Chrisman of Herkimer, Helen Maurice of Syracuse, Margaret and George Smith of Mohawk; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by several sisters and brothers. Relatives and close friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, January 10, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Father Anthony Barratt, Pastor of the Church of the Annunciation, officiating. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Visitation will be held Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
