Obituary of Hollis Bunker

Hollis G. Bunker, Sr., age 55, of Little Falls, went to be with the Lord, unexpectedly on Saturday morning, March 5, 2005 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was born on July 19, 1949 in Amesbury, MA a son of the late Maurice P. and Elsie (Kenerson) Bunker. He was a graduate of Belmont High School, New Hampshire where he held a state record with the cross country team. Hollis furthered his education attending Thompson School of Agriculture of the University of New Hampshire, graduating with an Associate's Degree. He was joined in marriage with Bonita L. Corriveau on April 2, 1970 in Belmont, New Hampshire. Hollis was currently the owner and operator of the Bunker Family Farm, Little Falls, always performing daily chores at the farm with dedication and love. He was serving as branch president of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, East Herkimer and served the church in many other capacities. Hollis was a member of the Boonville Co-Op and was a town selectman. Mr. Bunker was a loving and devoted husband and father as well as a proud grandfather. His attentive concern and willingness to offer his assistance extended well beyond his family circle: he was always prepared to lend a hand to friends, neighbors, church family or anyone in need. Gifted with a deeply spiritual nature he dedicated a great amount of time for the betterment of church life and church functions. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a friendly, caring individual who always had a smile and will be deeply missed by many. Survivors include his wife Bonita, of Little Falls; five children: Sarah Smith and husband Sam of Utica, Hollis Bunker, Jr. of Little Falls, Ellen Bunker living in Ithaca, NY, Carrie Sagatis and husband Jason of Little Falls and John Bunker who is serving the church in Guadalajara, Mexico; a brother: Morris P. Bunker, Jr. and wife Sally of Coldbrook, NH; a sister: Cindy Bunker of Peterborough, NH; four grandchildren: Zachary Deering, Tristen Carrig, Sophia Smith and Izaiah Sagatis; several nieces, nephews, cousins, inlaws, an aunt: Barbara Bunker of Massachusets; many family friends including Persis Bach and a host of extended church family. He was predeceased by his sister, Priscilla Bunker. Mr. Bunker's funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will commence at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Gross Blvd., Herkimer Branch. The family will greet friends in the gathering hall following the service. In lieu of floral offerings, kindly consider contributions in his memory to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Missionary Fund; donations may be made at the church. Hollis will be laid to rest this spring in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. The family is being served by the Enea Family Funeral Home, Little Falls. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses and staff of Little Falls Hospital and Bassett Healthcare as they provided treatment with deep personal concern. Special thanks to the Ilion EMT's for their professionalism showed at the high school and to the bystanders who cared for Hollis until help arrived. Thanks also to the many friends, neighbors and church family for the acts of kindness and spiritual care provided to the Bunker family during this difficult time.
