David M. Burkhart, 45, of South Litchfield Street, passed away at his home with his loving family by his side on Friday evening, May 27, 2005, after a brief illness. He was born April 18, 1960, in Rome, N.Y., son of the late Frederick Burkhart and Katherine Ripley Burkhart of Rome. David was married to Selena Cowan on Dec. 7, 1985, in Cold Brook N.Y. He worked construction as a truck driver and was given the nickname "2 Speed." Dave enjoyed golfing and NASCAR. Surviving besides his wife, Selena Burkhart, Frankfort, are two sons David Jr. and Christopher Burkhart, Frankfort; in-laws, Frank and Celeste Cowan, Frankfort, Frank and Melanie Cowan, Middleville, Tricia Cowan, Little Falls, Pat Burkhart, Whitesboro; mother, Katherine Burkhart, Rome; three brothers, John and Robin Burkhart, Pennsylvania, Frederick Burkhart, Stanwix, and Mark Burkhart, Utica; five sisters, Kathy and Ulysses Upshaw, Lee Center, Nancy Burkhart, Whitesboro, Pat Camelo, New Hartford, Mary and Irving Lombino, Lotz, Fla., and Elaine and Frank Bielby, Oneida; and several nieces and nephews, including Dannielle, Frank III and Brandy Cowan who were very special to Dave. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Burkhart and brother, Karl Burkhart. Calling hours will be at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street, between Frankfort and Ilion, on Monday, May 30, from 6-8 p.m. with a service to follow at 8 p.m. Interment will be private in Poland Cemetery.
