Obituary of Agnes DeForrest

Agnes M. (Carrig) DeForrest, 87, of Country Manor and formerly of West Lake Ave., Herkimer, passed away on July 1, 2005 at Valley Health Services. She was born on May 12, 1918 in Fort Plain, NY, the daughter of the late John and Helen (Small) Carrig. Mrs. DeForrest was educated in Herkimer Schools. Her marriage to James P. DeForrest took place on June 8, 1940 in St. Francis Church with the Rev. Joseph Ryan, officiating. He predeceased her on July 9, 1988. She was last employed by W.T. Grant and worked there for many years. She loved to crochet and knit. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Shirley DeForrest of Herkimer; a sister, Evelyn Charles of Mohawk; two grandchildren, James DeForrest, Jr. of Ilion and Brian DeForrest of Herkimer; three great-grandchildren, James Anthony DeForrest of Ilion, Allison DeForrest of Herkimer and Nicholas DeForrest of Rome. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Funeral services will commence on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 11 a.m. from the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington Street, Herkimer, with the Rev. Mark Cunningham, Pastor of St. Francis deSales Church, Herkimer, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
