Obituary of Fabula Engell

Fabula "Fab" D. Engell, age 85, formerly of 130 Kent Blvd., Ilion, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born on March 14, 1920 in Tupper Lake, NY, the daughter of Ovila and Roseann (LeFebvre) La Celle. On Dec. 25, 1941, she was married to Fred O. Engell in Richfield Springs. He died on Oct. 27, 1994. Fabula was a Nurses Aide at Mohawk Valley General Hospital, Ilion, for 21 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion, Catholic Daughters of America Court Reardon #841 in Newport, AARP and was a volunteer at the Food Pantry. Fabula's life revolved around her children and grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Michael McCormack of Herkimer, Coleen and Vern Wollaber of Ilion; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Betty Ann Engell, Timothy and Diane Engell, all of Ilion; eight grandchildren, Edward McCormack and his wife, Kristen of Pulaski, Michelle McCormack of Spring Valley, North Carolina, Patrick McCormack and his wife, Robin of Remsen, Frederick and Jason Engell, Wade and Hallie Wollaber and Ryan Engell, all of Ilion; seven great-grandchildren, Danielle, Genevieve, Michael, McKenna, Madeline, Aidan and Alexander; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lucille Benson and Loretta Morczek; and four brothers, Oliver, Raymond, Edward and Clarence La Celle; and her parents. Funeral services will be held 9:45 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2005, at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, and 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 1, 2005, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The CDA Court Reardon prayer service will be held 7 p.m., Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. or Valley Health Services. Envelopes are available at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, Ilion.
