Obituary of Rose Fenton

Rose F. (Conte) Fenton, 86, of 15 Jefferson St., Ilion, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, with her loving family by her side. Rose was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Schuyler, daughter of the late Michael and Modesta (Pandolf) Conte. She was a graduate of Frankfort High School. On Oct. 25, 1952, she was united in marriage to Lynn E. Fenton at St. Mary's Church, Frankfort; a blessed union of almost 40 years until Mr. Fenton's passing on May 18, 1992. Rose was employed by the Remington Arms Co., Ilion, retiring in 1970, with 30 years of loyal service. She was a parishioner and greeter at the Church of the Annunciation, and a member of the Remington Arms 25 Years Club. Rose was generous and caring to her family. She loved everyone and had many friends. "Aunt Rose" was cherished by her beloved nieces and nephews. Rose is survived by her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Joan Conte of Ilion, and Frank and Rayda Conte of Texas; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Cora Simonette of Ilion, and Margaret and Daniel Consiglio of Rome; two sisters-in-law, Doris Conte of Mohawk and Lydia Conte of Utica; her beloved nieces, nephews, several cousins and many dear friends. Rose was predeceased by her brothers Louis, Joseph, Samuel and Dominick Conte, sisters Philomena Scamardo and Mary Skelly, and brothers-in-law Ward and Lyle Fenton. Family and friends are invited to calling hours Sunday, May 15, from 2-5 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. Rose's funeral service will be held Monday, commencing at 11 a.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home and noon at the Church of the Annunciation, where Father Anthony Barrett, Pastor, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Oak View Cemetery, Frankfort. Rose's family wishes to thank Dr. Buttala, Dr. Parker and staffs, and Faxton-St. Luke's Oncology Center and sixth floor staff for their compassion and care shown to Rose.
