Shirley J. Fernalld, 74, formerly of Prindle Apts. and 20 E. North St., Ilion, died Saturday, September 24, 2005, at Valley Health Services. She was born on June 28, 1931 in Ilion, the daughter of Douglas and Loretta (Dixon) Barger, and attended Ilion schools. On September 12, 1955, she was married to Arthur "Bud" Fernalld in Great Bend, Pa. He died on September 29, 1996. Shirley was an assembler at General Electric Co., Utica, and later was employed in the Returns Department at Duofold Co., Mohawk. She was a charter member of the Frankfort Hill Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Litchfield Grange. Shirley enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends. Survivors include her three sons and two daughters-in-law, Brian and Punye Fernalld of Columbus, Ohio, Tim and Susan Fernalld of Herkimer and Dale Fernalld of Ilion; six grandchildren, Crystal, Brian Jr., Tim Jr., Sarah, Kourtnee and Justin; special nieces, Gloria Polley and Linda Snyder; several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Larry; three sisters, Betty Ashley, Jean Byard and Mary Brewer. Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion with Pastor Hans Drews and John Brewer (Shirley's nephew) officiating. Interment will be in Norwich Corners Cemetery next to her husband. Calling hours are Monday, September 26, 2005, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
