Mr. Robert Nikolaus Goettel 71 of 7320 State Hwy 29 Dolgeville, died Thursday, July 28, 2005 in Nathan Littauer Hospital Gloversville. He was born in Feketic, Yugoslavia on September 18, 1933 the son of the late Nikolaus and Christina (Wolf) Goettel and was educated in schools in East Germany. His marriage to the former Gisela Brunner took place on February 6, 1959 in Germany. The couple came to the United States shortly after and settled first in New York City. They moved to the Dolgeville area in 1974. Mr. Goettel was employed by the Johnstown Knitting Mill as a supervisor until his retirement in 2001. He was of the Lutheran Faith and his personal interests were in the outdoors, including hunting, and gardening. He was a self creative woodworker making items for his home and his family from cabinets, bookshelves, lamps and walking canes. Surviving him is his wife Gisela of 46 years, a Son Robert G. Goettel of Dolgeville, his daughters Claudia Johnson of Dolgeville and Jeannette Schwarz of New Jersey, a Sister Elfriede Agapow of Germany, a Granddaughter Christine Johnson and a Grandson Samuel Schwarz. A Memorial Service will be held at the United Lutheran ? Presbyterian Church on Faville Avenue Dolgeville next Friday August 5, 2005 at 2PM. The Pastor James Paulson will officiate.
