Obituary of Donald Harris

Donald F. "Butch" Harris, 67, of 21 W. Monroe St., passed away on Sunday evening, June 26, 2005 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with the loving support of his family at his bedside. He was a lifelong Little Falls resident. On June 24, 1978 he was joined in marriage with the former Barbara MacRorie in the First Baptist Church, Herkimer with the Rev. David Kirkpatrick, officiating. Butch was a United States Veteran serving with the Air Force. His last professional employment was with the Remington Arms Company, Ilion retiring at the age of 62. He was a member of the Little Falls Polish Club where he always enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends. Survivors include his wife Barbara and daughter Sara Harris and her special friend Bob Dodge of Little Falls;his children: Shelly Vanyo and husband Steve of Coriapolis, PA, Larre Harris and wife Nora of Mohawk, Mari Atkinson and husband Daniel of Oswego; a brother: James "Squeak" Harris and wife Betty of Little Falls, a sister "Mimi" Kaminski; his grandchildren: Trina, Ian and Joshua Vanyo, Larry Harris Jr., Justin Harris, Karyn, Kassidy, Mari, Tara and Dan Atkinson II; three great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved canine companion, Shelby. Butch was predeceased by two grandchildren: Richard and Angela, a sister, Donna Gray and by three brothers: Robert, Richard and John Harris. In keeping with Butch's wishes, services will be held at the convenience of the family. The family requests that those wishing to remember Butch to have a drink in his memory. Arrangements are being handled by the Enea Family Funeral Home of Little Falls.
