Lewis M. Hastings, Sr., 74 of the Town of Oppenheim, passed away on Thursday January 6, 2005 at St. Elizabeth?s Medical Center, Utica, NY. He was born November 5, 1930 in Hadley, NY the son of the late Frederick & Mabel (Cilley) Hastings. Lewis was a 1948 graduate of Johnstown High School. His marriage to Margaret Davis took place on December 19, 1964 at the Grace Congregational United Church of Christ in St. Johsnville. The couple shared at blessed union of marriage for 33 years until the passing of Mrs. Hastings on February 21, 1998. Mr. Hastings was a Korean veteran, enlisting in 1948 and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1969 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Lewis was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Amsterdam. He was a member of the Fort Plain VFW and a former member of the St. Johsnville Masons. Survivors include 3 sons; Lewis Mack Hastings Jr. of St. Johsnville, Frederick Hastings and wife Theresa of Dolgeville, & Walter Hastings of Oppenheim, 1 daughter; Deborah Young and husband Michael of Queensbury, NY a son-in-law; Roger Tricco of San Jose, California, 2 brothers; Ron Hastings of Johnstown & Loren Hastings and wife Margaret of Johnstown, 2 sisters; Barbara Voght of Latham & Norma Kelley and husband Galen of Vermont, 6 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was pre-deceased by a daughter Elisa Tricco. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith ?
