Obituary of Iva Hawkes

Iva F. (Sickler) Hawkes, 89, a resident of the Skilled Nursing Facility at Little Falls Hospital, passed away on Friday evening, January 7, 2005 at that facility. She was born on November 30, 1915 in Van Hornesville, NY a daughter of the late Alexander and Florence (Strait) Sickler. She received her education in Van Hornesville schools and resided in East Herkimer before settling in Little Falls. Her marriage to Judson Hawkes took place in November of 1938 in Albany. Mr. Hawkes passed away on August 31, 1987. Iva's last professional employment was with Little Falls Hospital where she was a cook, retiring after 40 years of service. She was of the Lutheran faith. Her life was centered around her grandson and will be remembered as a loving family woman. Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Frank and Diane Hawkes of Mohawk, a grandson, Steve Hawkes and wife Lynae of Richfield Springs, many nieces, nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Albert, Leon, Howard, Helen, Cora, Bessie and Ida. The family will gather privately to say goodbye at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. The Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls will offer prayer. Iva will be laid to rest next spring in North Columbia Cemetery.
