Mrs. Florence Anna Hewitt 97 of 12 Slawson Street Dolgeville, died Friday May 6, 2005 in st. Johnsville Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since January of this year. She was born in the Town of St. Johnsville, on April 18, 1908 the daughter of Frank and Ida Mae (Richards) Van Allen and attended rural schools. Her marriage to Charles T. Hewitt took place on November 10, 1933 here in Dolgeville, with the Rev. C. Moulton officiating. Mrs. Hewitt was employed by the Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville until her retirement in 1964. She was an officer of the American Legion Auxiliary of Dolgeville for many years and also taught Sunday school in the Universalist Church for many years. She personally enjoyed reading, knitting and sewing, and especially enjoyed the warmth of her home. Surviving her is her husband Charles of 71 years, her Daughters Virginia Hewitt-Lash of Hamilton, NY and Judith Ann and her husband Paul Niles of Bainbridge, NY, her Grandchildren Kimberly and her husband Todd Bliss, Jeffrey Niles and his wife Kristina, her Great Grandchildren Ashley Bliss, Trevor Bliss, Alexandra Niles and J. Scott Niles, several N & N. Funeral services will be held Monday May 9, 2005 at 11 AM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. The Rev. Gertrude Ortlieb will officiate. Burial will be in the Dolgeville Cemetery. Calling hours are MONDAY morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the St. Johnsville Nursing Home in her name.
