Obituary of Reubena Holland

Reubena E. "Ruby" Holland, age 90, formerly of Elizabethtown Rd., Ilion, recently of Plantation, FL, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2005, in Florida. Ruby was born November 14, 1914 in Campton, Kentucky, daughter of Isaac and Martha (Hollon) Elkin. She was a graduate of Pine Ridge High School in Kentucky. On March 20, 1936 she was united in marriage to Loren E. Holland in North Columbia, a devoted union of 57 years until Mr. Holland's passing on September 4, 1993. She was a member of the North Columbia Methodist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Susan Holland of Plantation, FL, with whom Ruby recently resided; one son-in-law, Brian Carney of Cape Coral, FL; four grandchildren, Jill St. Pierre, Robert Carney and his wife, Carol, Sheila Carney, and Michael Holland; three great-grandchildren, Jason and Elizabeth St. Pierre and Justin Carney; one brother and sister-in-law, Jasper and Maxine Elkin of Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Loren; daughter, Judy Carney; and her brother, Clay Elkin. Family and friends are invited to visitation Saturday, July 9th, from 9-11 a.m. at the APPLEGATE & DAY FUNERAL HOME, 102 West St., Ilion. Ruby's funeral service will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. following visitation with Rev. Hans Drews officiating. Procession to Frankfort Hill Cemetery will follow the service. Those wishing to do so may consider memorials in Ruby's name to the N. Columbia Methodist Church. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
