Obituary of Dante Howe

Mr. Dante Wesley Howe Sr. 60 of 1047 Olsen Road St. Johnsville, Town of Oppenheim, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday February 8, 2005 at the Van Allen Nursing Home where he had been a resident since July 2003. Dante was born in Little Falls on March 16, 1944 the son of the late James J. and Berniece T. (Ballatore) and was educated in school in St. Johnsville. His marriage to the former Cheryl Stowell took place on April 23, 1966 in the Oppenheim Methodist Church. Conrail employed Dante as a carpenter in Selkirk, New York for 18 years retiring in 1996 due to a disability. A veteran of the Army he served with HQS 5th MSL Battalion 6th Artillery in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1965 with the rank of Pvt. E-2. Dante was a member of the Carpenter's Union and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way with Conrail, one time prior to his illness he was a member of the Oppenheim Fire Department. He personally enjoyed collecting and repairing all types of motor vehicles, and also has a collection of model cars & trucks. He will be missed especially by his Grandchildren who were the,"Love of his Life" Surviving is his wife Cheryl, his Sons Dante W. Howe Jr. and his wife Dawn, of Dolgeville, Darian Howe and his Companion Christen Hoffman of St. Johnsville, David Howe and his companion Cheyene Dzimitrowicz of Dolgeville, a Daughter Danielle Howe and her Fianc?e Ronnie Mosher of Dolgeville, A Brother and his wife Alan and Cindy Howe of St. Johnsville, his Grandchildren- Douglas, Sarah, Samantha, Ian, Kayla, Steven, Chelsea, and Tiffany, His Nephews Luke Stowell, George Siver and his Nieces Sherry Sokolowski, and Felicia DePiazza. A Son Douglas Wayne Howe in 1968 and a Brother James R. Howe in 2001 predeceased him. Funeral services will be held Friday February 11, 2005 at 11 AM in the Oppenheim Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Jeff Losey, pastor will officiate. Spring burial with Military Honors will be in Finch Cemetery, Town of Oppenheim.
