John W. Humphreys, 61, of Hopson Road, Dolgeville, died Friday, February 11, 2005, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, St. Luke's Campus, New Hartford. He was born July 12, 1943, in the town of Salisbury, the son of Harry L. and Mary E. (Darling) Humphreys, and attended Dolgeville schools. In the early 1960s, he worked at New York Central Railroad and later operated a dairy farm in the Hopson District. He was employed by Ralph Humphreys Inc., New Hartford, as a truck driver. More recently, he worked as a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Co. of Syracuse for 15 years. He was a member of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1043. Survivors include his sister, Diane Wright and brother-in-law, Harry R. Wright of Dolgeville; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Barnes and her companion Leonard Mosher of Stratford, Sabrina Perkins and her husband David of Stratford, Mathew Wright and his wife Mary of Dolgeville, Harry R. Wright II of Dolgeville and Jonathan Wright and his companion Beth Rockwell of St. Johnsville; great-nieces and nephews, Lydia Barnes, Heather, Ford and Scott Perkins, Mathew Wright Jr., Crystal Wright and Jonathan Wright Jr., several aunts, uncles and cousins. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Applegate and Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. Spring interment will be held at Darling Cemetery, town of Salisbury. There are no calling hours. John's immediate family has entrusted all funeral arrangements and supervision to Don Applegate and John Day of the Applegate and Day Funeral Home in Ilion.
