Obituary of Jenny Karasek

Jenny O. "Jane" Karasek, 84 formerly of Fort Herkimer, passed away on Saturday June 4, 2005 at Little Falls Hospital. She was born on September 14, 1920 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Paul & Johanna (Semro) Osredkar, and was educated in Little Falls schools. Her marriage to Joseph J. Karasek took place on October 4, 1941 at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls. Mrs. Karasek was last employed at Herkimer BOCES where she taught a sewing class. Jane was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk. She was also a member of the Michael S. Pliseck VFW Post 4915, Ladies Auxiliary, Herkimer Senior Citizens, the former Blessed Sacrament Rosary Society, and the Mohawk Better Breather's Club. Although sewing was her career, she enjoyed it as a pastime. In her Leisure she enjoyed playing bingo with her friends. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Joseph; a son Joseph P. Karasek and wife Frances of Mohawk; a daughter, Joyce Bradle and husband Tom of Frankfort; 3 grandchildren, Eric LoPresti, Gregg Crandall and wife Jenni & Melissa Hope; 5 great grandchildren, Emily & Nicholas Crandall, Kaylee & Kyrah Hope & Joshua LoPresti; and in-laws, Frances Osredkar of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rita Laurence of Elmonte, California, Rudy & Helen Karasek of Camillus, Blanche Karasek of Havana, Illinois, & Mary Sigmund of Dallas, Texas; and many nieces, nephews & cousins. She was pre-deceased by 4 brothers, Max, Paul, John & Dan Osredkar and a sister, Dorothy Platts. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 10, 2005 at 9:15 am from the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY and at 10:00 am from the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Mark Cunningham, Sacramental Minister assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday June 9, 2005 from 6-8 pm. Members of the Herkimer Senior Citizens are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm for services. Members of the Michael S. Pliseck VFW Post 4915, Ladies Auxiliary are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 6:30 pm for services. All memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Blessed Sacrament Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere thank you to the nurses and staff of the 4th floor at Little Falls Hospital for the care shown to Jane during her stay.
