Obituary of Richard Kroe

Dr. Richard F. Kroe, age 65, of Herkimer, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 18, 2005 in Faxton/St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford. At the time of his passing his daughter Alison was at his side offering love and support. He was born on May 5, 1939 in the Bronx, NY a son of the late Andrew and Amelia (Weinberger) Kroe. Richard served with the United States Navy entering the service on July 19, 1956 and receiving an honorable discharge on July 18, 1962. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. On June 19, 1970, he married the former Leila "Lee" Rosenzweig; close and constant companions throughout the twenty nine years of their union, the couple enjoyed the benefits of a mutually supportive relationship as well as the fun and excitement of their shared experiences. Richard was devoted to his family. Just as he made it a priority in his professional life to give his best efforts, so, in his personal life, he loved to please his wife and daughter and always cared for them. At one time he was employed with the New Chiropractic College where he was the dean for the Centre of Post graduate and continuing education and preciously practiced locally at his own chiropractor office. His last professional employment was with the New York State Worker's Compensation's Board. Richard was a member of the Ilion Elk's Lodge #1444 and was of the Jewish faith. Survivors include his beloved daughter, Alison Kroe of Herkimer, a brother Dr. Alan Kroe and wife Barbara of California. Also surviving is a host of family and special friends. His wife predeceased him on April 10, 2000. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Thursday (today), January 20, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. Richard's funeral will begin at 10 am on Friday morning., Jan. 21, from the chapel of the funeral home. A heartfelt thank you is offered on behalf of Alison to Sandra, Al, Malcolm and Joe for their friendship. Also, a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Little Falls Hospital. In memory of Dr. Richard F. Kroe, please consider contributions to the Little Falls Hospital Dialysis Unit. Funeral directors, Kevin and Daniel Enea will assist the family with organizing a Jewish burial service next spring with Kaddish prayers to follow. This service will be held in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills at a time to be announced.
