Obituary of Roselind Lanphere
The community of Salisbury Center mourns the passing of one its most beloved and revered citizens, Roselind Clara Lanphere, who died unexpectedly Saturday evening, March 19, 2005, at her home. She was born December 6, 1909, to the late Clark and Eleanor Youker Ingersoll of Dolgeville, and was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, Frederick Dean Lanphere, who died in 1997, and two brothers, Charles and Leon Ingersoll. She is survived by her daughter, Connie, and son-in-law, Dr. L. David Pye, of Alfred; granddaughters DeAnn Kelly, wife of Mr. David Pettinelli of Fairport, Lorie Elizabeth, wife of Dr. Peter Angeline of Charlotte, NC, Lisa Rose, wife of Mr. Bernard L. Randrianarisoa, of Albany; and grandson, Brien David, husband of Dr. Pamela Schultz of Brighton. Her surviving great-grand children are Samantha Claire and Nicholas Dean Pettinelli, Rebecca Lee, Jonathan David and Katherine Shu Angeline and Eileah Mariam and Brysen Frederick Pye, born March 11, 2005. Throughout her life many wonderful, caring friends surrounded Roselind, but in recent years one contributed immeasurably to her quality of life, Mrs. Cathy Maxwell of Fairfield, and in so doing earned the gratitude, respect and admiration of Roselind's entire family. Roselind was an enthusiastic member of Home Bureau and especially enjoyed capturing the changing of seasons through the use of photography. She was a skilled gardener who took great delight in growing daffodils, roses, dahlias, coleus and even wild flowers. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, she loved viewing the lighted windows of the church near her home in Salisbury Center during hours of evening worship -- especially on snowy, wintry evenings. She and Dean were affectionately known as Mayor and Mrs. Mayor of Spruce Lake where they resided for many years. She enjoyed conversations with friends and family; playing the piano -- especially golden songs from yesteryears; adventurous snowmobiling; boating; fishing; cooking and all things red. She was especially fond of her many dogs, many of whom were named Lady. In celebration of her wonderful life, a Memorial Service and reception will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2005, at the United Methodist Church in Salisbury Center. A springtime interment will be arranged by the Roberts-Enea Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be offered in Roselind's name to the Salisbury Center United Methodist Church, or the Spruce Lake Fish and Game Club.
