Obituary of Nellie Looman

Nellie Mae (Johnson) Looman, 80, of Herkimer, went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, March 20, 2005 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on April 4, 1924 in Frankfort, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Emma (Carr) Johnson and received her education in Frankfort schools. She married Ralph I. Looman on June 2, 1951 in Herkimer with the Rev. Fred Cotnam, officiating. She was employed for several years with the St. Francis rectory and was previously employed by the former A & P. Nellie enjoyed playing the organ and keyboard. In her spare time, she was an avid bingo player and enjoyed camping. Survivors include two children: Mary Young and husband Neil of Herkimer and Ralph P. Looman of Utica; her grandchildren: Brenda and Brian Hysack, Laurie and fiance Wendall Wekelo, Paul and fiance Lori Donahue and Jeffrey Daniel Young; her great grandchildren: Brian, Sarah, Craig and Kyle Hysack; Katelyn and Jessica Wiegand, Angela Wekelo and Christopher McGraw; a sister in law: Louise Looman, several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her special friend: Milford Woodrick and family of Herkimer. She was predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters. Visitation at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer will be held on Tuesday (today), March 22, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. Nellie's funeral will commence at 10 am on Wednesday morning, March 23 from St. Francis de Sales Church, N. Bellinger St., Herkimer where the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor, will celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. She will be laid to rest with her husband Ralph, this spring, in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. The Village of Herkimer Senior Citizens will gather at the funeral parlor at 5:00 p.m. this evening to conduct a prayer service. For directions to the funeral home, click the facilities link above.
