Obituary of Laura Lubey

Laura M. Lubey, 92, of Acme Road, Ilion, formerly of 968 Warren Road, Mohawk, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at home. She was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Tupper Lake, the daughter of Arthur and Roseanna (LePage) Brunette. On Feb. 6, 1933, Laura was married to Thomas P. Lubey in Ilion. He died June 15, 1998. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Laura's family was very important to her. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Survivors include her two daughters and son-in-law, Shirley Lubey of Gillette, N.J., and Jean and John Vicik of Whitesboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Jeanne Lubey of Georgetown; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rita Brown of Mohawk; several nieces, nephews and her friend, Betty. She was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the Blessed Sacrament Church, East Main Street, Mohawk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Mark Cunningham, sacramental minister, assisted by Sister Mary Jo Tallman, parish life director. Interment will be in Mohawk Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Church or Hospice. Donation envelopes will be available on Saturday at the church service. Laura's children have entrusted all funeral and burial arrangements to the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk (866-2161).
