Obituary of Carmella Lupo

Carmella R. (Ruggiero) Lupo, 91, of 26 Church Street, Little Falls, passed away on Thursday evening, October 27, 2005 at the Skilled Nursing Facility of Little Falls Hospital. Carmella was born in Dolgeville on June 25, 1914, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Capajaflo) Ruggiero. She received her education in Dolgeville schools. On September 21, 1946 she married Michael Lupo at St. Joseph's Church in Dolgeville. The couple enjoyed a blessed union of 41 years until his passing on April 29, 1987. Mrs. Lupo was last employed at the P & K Dress Company in Little Falls. Prior to that, she worked for many years at the Daniel Green Shoe Company. Carmella's enjoyment centered around her family, especially her grandchildren, and she spent many happy hours crocheting for them. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Marie and Francis Estey of Little Falls; a beloved son, Michael Lupo, also of Little Falls; a sister, Mary Ellen Marwood of Texas, and brother Anthony Ruggiero of Cobleskill, her cherished grandchildren, Michele and Fritz Florian of Herkimer, and Melissa Dawley of Little Falls; two adored great-grandchildren Travis and Katelyn; and a special niece Jennifer Marwood of Texas. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves her beloved canine companions, Bristol and Queenie. She was predeceased by two sisters, Angelina Fical and Rose Parise, and by two brothers, Joseph and Michael Ruggiero. Carmella's funeral will be held on Monday, October 31, 2005, at 11:15 a.m. from the chapel of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls where prayer will be offered and at Noon in Holy Family Parish Church, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls, with the Reverend Anthony Ligato as celebrant. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dolgeville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, October 30, 2005, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Skilled Nursing Facility of Little Falls Hospital or the Herkimer County Humane Society. The family offers their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Little Falls Hospital for the outstanding care and compassion they so freely offered during Carmella's illness.
