Obituary of William MacLauchlin

William "Bill" MacLauchlin, Sr., a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away on Sunday September 18, 2005 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, NY. He was born August 22, 1922 in Randall, NY the son of the late Frank & Hazel (Wright) MacLauchlin. Bill was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School and also graduated from Wentworth Institute School for the Navy. His marriage to Gladys E. Klinger took place on July 3, 1942 at the St. Johnsville Methodist Church. The couple shared a blessed union of 53 years until the passing of Mrs. MacLauchlin on June 8, 1996. Mr. MacLauchlin was a World War II Navy veteran enlisting on September 15, 1942 and was honorably discharged on January 13, 1946 with the rank of Chief Machinist's Mate. Bill was last employed for Prudential Insurance Company where he held the position of Staff Manager. At one time he worked for the former Palatine Dye Company in St. Johnsville. Mr. MacLauchlin was a member of the Grace Christian Church in St. Johnsville and was a member of the St. Johnsville American Legion Post # 168 and the St. Johnsville F&A.M. # 611. Survivors include 2 sons, Clark MacLauchlin and wife Janice of St. Johnsville, and William MacLauchlin, Jr. and wife Janice of Fort Plain, a daughter Janet MacLauchlin of Roanoke, Virginia, a sister Vivian Costello of Ilion, 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces, & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 21, 2005 at 11:00 am from the Grace Christian Church in St. Johnsville, with Reverend Wayne Cole officiating. Burial will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY.
