Obituary of Marlene Maida

Mrs. Marlene Maida 69 of 6 Sullivan Street Dolgeville, died Thursday evening August 18, 2005 at her residence, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Marlene was born on September 27, 1935 the daughter of the late Anthony and Sophia (Stankewicz) Circhirillo and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School class of 1954. Her marriage to Francis Maida took place on June 15, 1956 in St. Patrick?s Church in st. Johnsville with the Rev. Walter Burns officiating. Marlene was employed at the local 5 & 10 Store and the Sally Ann Clothing store, but her primary dedication was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother and always putting her husband and family first. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph?s Church of Dolgeville, also helping as housekeeper of the church for many years. She often would stay after Mass for hours to clean the church. She also worked many of the church dinners, by baking pizza and cookies for the affair. She personally enjoyed painting, and doing art work, as well as knitting and crocheting. She is survived by her husband Francis of 49 years, her son and his wife Ricky and Pamela Maida of Dolgeville, her daughter and her fianc?? Gina Camardello and Dan Dievendorf of Fulton, her two cherished Granddaughters, Kimberly, and Courtney Maida, A Brother Anthony Circhirillo and his son Anthony Jr. of Greece, NY, Her Uncles Zigmund Stankewicz and his wife Mary of St. Johnsville, Nicholas ?Babe? Circhirillo and his wife Sarah and Victor Chichirillo and his wife Jean both of California, Steve Chirch of Rochester. Also her former son in law James Camardello of Dolgeville. She was predeceased by a very special Aunt Mary Petrell of Frankfort who raised her as a young girl. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday August 22, 2005 at 11 AM in St. Joseph?s Church on Helmer Avenue Dolgeville. The Rev. Alfred A. Lamanna will celebrate the mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph?s cemetery. There are No Calling hours. Memorials may be sent to the St. Joseph Memorial Fund, c/o St. Josephs Church Helmer Avenue Dolgeville or to Hospice 4277 Middle Settlement Road New Hartford, New York 13413 in her memory. The family offers a sincere thank you to Hospice Care of New Hartford and all the nurses and volunteers who provide special care and counseling during Marlene?s illness.
