Obituary of John Mamrosh
Mr. John Mamrosh 81 of 850 State Route 365 Remsen, a former Town of Oppenheim resident died unexpectedly Thursday January 20, 2005 at St. Elizabeth?s Medical Center Utica, after suffering an apparent heart attack at home. He was born in Herkimer on September 25, 1923 the son of Ignaty A. ?Hnat? and Anna (Ardan) and moved to the Dolgeville area where he attended schools in both Dolgeville and Oppenheim. A Veteran of WW II he served honorably in the United States Army from March 1943 until he was honorably discharged in March 1946 with the rank of PFC. He participated in campaigns in Central Europe and the Rhineland with ?C? Battery of the 516th Field Artillery Unit. He was awarded the American service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He married Fernabelle E. Francisco on April 17, 1949 in Milford, New York. She predeceased him on August 7, 1982. He then married Mary B. Sawyer on September 11, 1993 in the Bethel Baptist Church in Prospect, New York. John was employed by area industries, including Sperry Rand Company of Ilion, the former UNIVAC Company of Utica and he retired from the Nabisco Life Savers Company of Canajoharie. John was a founding and charter member of the Hilltop Fire Department, serving as its Chief, secretary and former treasure for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #406 of Booneville, and he personally enjoyed camping and stamp collecting. Surviving him is his wife Mary, his Sons and their wives- Michael and Carole Mamrosh, John and Bonnie Mamrosh, Donald Mamrosh and his companion Tina and James and Ruth Mamrosh all of Dolgeville, his Daughters Dorreen and her husband Sam Borrelli of Niceville, Fla., and Joann Mamrosh of Little Falls, a Brother Michael Mamrosh of Victorville, Ca., a Step Daughter Constance A. Dodge of Edinburg, NY, his Grandchildren Michael Jr., Heather, Jonathan, Veronica, Shannon, Natasha, Rachael and Nathan, his Great Grandchildren Trey, Melaine, Alyssa and Nathan, N & N. He was predeceased by two Sons Edward Earl Mamrosh and Stephen Peter Mamrosh and sisters Olga Cartell, Helen Mamrosh, and Mary Robertson. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday January 26, 2005 at 11 AM at the Roberts ? Buck Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville with Pastor Barry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Salisbury Rural Cemetery later in the spring. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
