Obituary of Rose Manino

Mrs. Rose (Nicastro) Manino, age 82, of 2456 Broad Street, Utica, passed away on Friday January 14, 2005 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica with her loving family at her side. She was born on June 28, 1922 in Ilion, a daughter of the late Calogero and Providencia (Caruso) Nicastro and received her education in Frankfort schools. Rose went on to attend and Graduate also from the Utica School of Commerce. She was united in marriage with Samuel J. Manino on September 2, 1946 at St. Mary's Church in Frankfort. Rose was the matriarch of her family and was founder along with her husband Sam of the Dari-Del Dairy in West Frankfort. Together they ran their business for over 50 years. It was this business and her family that Rose centered her life around. As a woman of honest simplicity and traditional values, she was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family. She was recognized by them as an honest and loyal woman and her love and values will be passed on for generations to come. She is survived by her beloved family including her children: Cecelia Manino Gaetano and her husband William of Schuyler; Samuel Manino and his wife Kim of Frankfort and Charles Manino and his wife Clare of Frankfort; her cherished grandchildren: Anthony Gaetano and Meagan, Bill Gaetano, Mary Rose Gaetano, Samuel Manino, Karina Manino, Michael Manino and Fiancee Antoinette Cavo; Nicole Manino, Nicholas Manino, Mary Beth Harrod and Robert; Susan Manino, Rose Manino and fiancee Jason Caruso, Charles Manino, Jr., and Frances Manino; a great grandchild: Jodi Lynch; three sisters: Lucy DiGristina of Fort Herkimer; Anna Carney of Frankfort; and Clara DiGristina and her husband Leo of Schuyler; a brother Joseph Nicastro of Frankfort; and many nieces nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Sam on January 8, 2002; a brother: Cross Nicastro, and a sister: Mary Caruso. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 17, 2005 at 9:00 AM from the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street Between Frankfort & Ilion, and at 10:00 AM from St. Anthony of Padua Church, Utica, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. Calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home will be on Sunday, Jan. 16 from 4 - 8 PM. Those wishing are asked to consider donations in her memory to a charity of one's choice. The family extends their sincere thanks to Dr. Pachikara, and the nurses and caregivers (Ange's of mercy) of the 4th Floor special care unit at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
