Obituary of Ruth Miller

Ruth E. Miller, age 90, a longtime Ilion resident, passed away Friday evening, December 30, 2005, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home where she recently resided. Ruth was born May 20, 1915 in Millers Mills, daughter of Clyde and Etha (Gyer) Miller. She was a graduate of West Winfield High School. Ruth was a longtime employee of the A&P Grocery Store in Ilion, retiring as head cashier in 1975 with over 35 years of loyal and dedicated service. She was a longtime member of the Ilion Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and the AARP. Ruth was very active in the RSVP program where she enjoyed volunteering for "Meals on Wheels." She packaged, served, and delivered nutritious meals, and also provided transportation to those in need. At one time Ruth was honored as the Sr. Citizen of the Year. She loved to crochet and knit. Ruth is survived by her brother, Alvin Miller of Jordanville; several cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Rena and Harold Fike; and her sister-in-law, Marguerite Miller, in 2000. In keeping with Ruth's wishes there will be no public calling hours or funeral service. Interment in Millers Mills Cemetery will take place this spring.
