Obituary of Leona Mureness

Leona (Mykel) Mureness, 87 of 9 E. Main St., St. Johnsville, passed away on Monday March 7, 2005 at St. Mary?s Hospital, Amsterdam, NY. She was born July 3, 1917 in Salisbury, NY the daughter of the late George & Elizabeth (Kertell) Mykel and was of the Protestant faith. She was married to Howard Mureness who pre-ceded her in death. For many years she worked in the Luxuray Mills in Fort Plain, also the Fort Plain Packing Co. in Nelliston, and Rochester Products in Rochester, where she lived for 25 years before moving to St. Johnsville. Survivors include 2 sons; Howard Mureness and wife Deanna of St. Johnsville, & Larry Mureness and wife Beverly of Marietta, Georgia, 22 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren & 1 great great grandchild, and many nieces & nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Stephen Mykel and 4 sisters, Ethel Burgess, Leta Weston, Lela Bosworth & Verna Manclaw. In keeping with Leona?s wishes cremation will take place under the direction of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY. There are no calling hours. All memorial contributions may be made to the St. Johnsville Volunteer Fire Department or to a charity of one?s choice.
