Obituary of Arlene Pelow

Arlene M. Pelow, 93, of the Folts Homes, Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, with her family by her side. She was born on November 29, 1912 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Kent) Scherer. She was educated in Herkimer schools and has been a life-long Herkimer resident. On July 5, 1935, Arlene was united in marriage to Lawrence Pelow at St. Francis de Sales Church with the Rev. McCarthy officiating. Mr. Pelow passed away on January 18, 1997. They shared a blessed union of 61 years. Mrs. Pelow was a faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Church. She is survived by a beloved daughter, Elaine Fleming and her husband Dan of New Port Richey, FL; three loving grandchildren, James Fleming and his wife Kim of Mohawk, Suzanne Smith and her husband Kyle of Orange Park, FL, and Holly Mitchell of Middleburg, FL; nine special great-grandchildren, Andrew, Adrienne and Peter Fleming, Steven and Shannon Mitchell, Jodie Crump and her husband Jeff, Amber Meiner and her husband Michael, and Joshua and Alyssa Smith. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Scherer and two sisters, Frances Bridger and Mary Sennett. In keeping with Mrs. Pelow's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 16, 2005 at St. Francis de Sales Church at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Mark Cunningham, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Folts Homes or St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer.
