S. Helen Reese, 85, a long time St. Johnsville resident, passed away on Monday August 1, 2005 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home. She was born September 13, 1919 in Taylor, Texas the daughter of the late John & Cordelia (Taylor) Phythian and was a graduate of Taylor High School. Helen moved to the St. Johnsville area in 1945. Her marriage to William F. Reese took place on September 7, 1943. Mr. Reese passed away on September 25, 1984. Helen was last employed for the Green Thumb of Montgomery County. Helen was a long time member of S.A.V.A.C. and was one of the founding member of the newly founded Ambulance Corps. With family as her foremost priority, Helen's great greatest treasures were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her sons, Theodore R. Reese and wife Janet of Red Creek, NY and Thomas A. Reese and wife Shirley of Tolono, Ill., her daughters, Suzanne Battisti and husband Richard of St. Johnsville, & Barbara Ann Reese and her life partner Cathy Keating of Tully, NY, a sister Johnny May Brice of Round Rock, Texas, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins. She was pre-deceased by a brother, John Phythian and 2 sisters Estelle Crowley and Irene Parrat. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday August 6, 2005 at 12:00 noon at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY with Sister Joanne McCarthy, of St. Patrick's Church officiating. Interment will follow at West St. Johnsville Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and relatives on Saturday August 6, 2005 from 11:00 am until the time of the services.
