Obituary of Mary Rickard
Mary ?Theresa? Rickard, 78 formerly of 74 Loomis St., Little Falls, passed away on Monday March 7, 2005 at St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in St. Johnsville, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on December 30, 1926 in Little Falls the daughter of the late John & Alice (Charbonneau) Ferris. She attended St. Mary?s Academy, graduating in 1945. On October 11, 1947 she was joined in marriage to Olin ?Rick? Rickard at St. Mary?s Church in Little Falls. Together they shared a blessed union of 49 years until the passing of Olin on June 11, 1996. Theresa was first employed at Little Falls Hospital in the dietary department. She then worked for several years at Lurie's Department Store in the city. She returned to Little Falls Hospital to work as a nurses aid after attending the Herkimer BOCES program. She retired from there in 1976 due to health problems. For many years she enjoyed creating homemade crafts for friends and family. She loved fishing in the 1,000 Island region, and enjoyed traveling through Ontario and to New England. Theresa was a cat lover and will be missed by her dear pal, Muffin. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Zuccaro of Little Falls, with whom she lived with for many years, and a son, David Rickard and wife Mary of Hartwick, NY. She has 3 grandchildren, Mark & Andrew Rickard of Hartwick, and Jennifer Zuccaro of Little Falls, whom she helped raise. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Herringshaw of Mohawk, and many nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 10, 2005 at 10:15 am from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY and at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish (corner of Main & John Streets) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Anthony Ligato, pastor. Interment will follow at St. Mary?s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:15 am until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to the St. Johnsville Nursing ? Rehab Center?s Resident Council, 7 Timmerman Ave., St. Johnsville, NY 13452. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr.. Lerner, the administration, dietary, and nursing staff of St. Johnsville, Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, where Theresa lived of close to 4 years. During that time and especially her last few days, every need was met, every measure of comfort given, and so much compassion was shown her by each and everyone there.
