Obituary of George Rodick

Mr. George A. Rodick, 84, of Little Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, February 9, 2005 in Van Allen?s Nursing Home, Little Falls. He was born on April 30, 1920 in New York City, son of the late John and Stella (Kobylaz) Rodick and was educated in St. Mary?s Academy and graduated from Little Falls High School. He was formerly married to Mary (Stout) Rodick. She preceded him in death in 1990. A veteran of World War II, he served with the United States Army 124th Anti Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion and was honorably discharged on January 29, 1946 holding the rank of Private, First Class. George was self-employed for many years as a contractor in Little Falls and operated Rodick Construction. He was a member of the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club and the American Legion Post #38 of Herkimer. Mr. Rodick enjoyed spending time outdoors. A favorite hobby of his was mushroom picking. He also enjoyed traveling and was an avid fisherman. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Survivors include twelve children: Jeanne Parsons of Nashville, TN, John Rodick of Clifton Park, Peter Rodick and wife Marie of Wingate, NC, Joseph Rodick of Little Falls, Mary Allen of Little Falls, Susanne Walker of Tampa, Fl, Georgette White of Little Falls, Michael Rodick and wife Pam of Niskuyuna, NY, Daniel Rodick and wife Mary of Balston Spa, Donna Donahoe and husband Eric Riggs of Ill., Diane Marotta and husband Paul of Schenectady and James Rodick and wife Sue of Utica. Also surviving are thirty-five grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including Ricky Congdon and Mary Ellen Deming. He was predeceased by a brother John Rodick and by a grandson, Burton Allen. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 12, 2005 from 9-11 am at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. His funeral will begin at 11 am on Saturday, Feb. 13 from the funeral home where prayer will be offered by Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ. Funeral procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where he will be laid to rest.
