Obituary of Marion Schooley

Marion A. Schooley, 91, formerly of 80 E. North St., Ilion, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Siegenthaler Center, Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford. She was a recent resident of the Valley Health Services, Herkimer. She was born March 28, 1914, in the town of Litchfield, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Richards and Giffie (Matthews) Richards and attended Cranes Corners School. On July 26, 1940, she was married to Lester A. Schooley in Sutton, Mass. He died on March 24, 1990. At one time she was employed at the Palmer House in Herkimer. Marion was a former member of the Litchfield Grange and Frankfort Rebekahs. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Baker of Bridgewater; her son, Carlton Schooley of Spokane, Wash.; three grandchildren, Lesa Blades and her husband Richard of Hesperia, Calif., John Baker and his wife Kristin of Binghamton and James B. Schooley of Albion, Ill.; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kyle, Nate and JuliAnna; one nephew, Paul DeSantos and his wife Cynthia of Charlton, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester Schooley, her son, Gary Schooley, one sister, Leona Slaughter and a brother, Homer Richards. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, at the Litchfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Donation envelopes are available at the funeral home.
