Mrs. Brenda J. Smith 52 of 6777 State Rt 29 St. Johnsville (Town of Oppenheim), died Tuesday December 13, 2005 in Bassett Hospital Cooperstown after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Little Falls on December 21, 1952 the daughter of Charles and Wilma (Lawyer) Stowell of Oppenheim and was a graduate of Oppenheim - Ephratah Central School, class of 1970. Her marriage to Robert L. Smith took place on August 29, 1970 at the Oppenheim Methodist Church. They celebrated 35 years of marriage this past August. Brenda was employed for a short time at the Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville, leaving there to go the Oppenheim School where she was an aide for a couple of years. She was last employed by the former Vicki's' Market at the four corners in Oppenheim. Brenda attended the Oppenheim Methodist Church and she personally enjoyed art, painting, crafting and especially flower gardening. She is survived by her husband Robert, her parents Charles and Wilma Stowell of Oppenheim Her Son and his wife Jason and Julie Smith of Dolgeville, a Daughter Jenna Smith of Oppenheim, her Brothers Gerald ,Mark and David Stowell all of Oppenheim, her Grandson Andrew and her Granddaughters Lauren and Hailey, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday December 16th, 2005 at 11 AM at the Oppenheim Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Losey officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Brown Cemetery, town of Oppenheim. Calling hours are on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the Roberts & Enea Family Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville.
