Obituary of Harry Smith

Mr. Harry V. Smith, Sr., 80, of Furnace St., Little Falls, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2005 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. He was born on March 19, 1925 in the Town of Danube, NY. He was a graduate of Owen D. Young High School. On April 25, 1944, Harry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps to serve his country. He participated in actions against the enemy in Okinawa, Ryukyu Island in the Pacific area. He was honorably discharged on May 15, 1946 as a corporal. On May 6, 1950, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Grace Pasquale at St. Joseph's Parish House in Little Falls. They shared a blessed union of 55 years. Mr. Smith was last employed with Burrow's Paper Mill as a superintendent for many years until his retirement in 1987. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Parish. Mr. Smith will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was always a steady source of love and support for his family. In Harry's spare time he loved to tend to his garden. He also showed a special talent for crafting all kinds of carpentry. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary at home; two loving sons, Gary Smith and his wife Diane of Little Falls, and Barry Smith and his wife Jean, also of Little Falls; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Smith of Little Falls; a sister-in-law, Lucy Brown of Little Falls; a brother-in-law, Mike Pasquale and his wife Doris of Little Falls; eight special grandchildren, Alexis Stirpe of Syracuse, Amanda Ferraro of Middle Grove, NY, Darren Lee of Syracuse, Jennifer Cash of OH, Tara Spraker, Bryan Smith, Quintin Smith, and Mitchell Smith, all of Little Falls; five cherished great-grandchildren, Kiley and Jacob Stirpe of Syracuse, Abigail and Carter Lee of Syracuse and Skylar Cash of OH; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Harry V. "Skip" Smith on November 11, 1993. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, December 5, 2005 at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will commence on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at 11:15 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home and at 12 p.m., noon, at Holy Family Parish, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev.
