Obituary of Mildred Spofford

Mrs. Mildred Helene Schrader Spofford 92 a resident of the Skilled Nursing Facility of the Little Falls Hospital and formerly of 17 Slawson Street Dolgeville, died Sunday evening August 21, 2005 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on August 29, 1912 in the Town of Herkimer, the daughter of Charles and Helene (Peters) Schrader. She first attended school in the Town of Herkimer and then completed school in Dolgeville. Her marriage to Kenneth P. Spofford took place on April 30, 1934 in Little Falls. Mr. Spofford predeceased her on August 24, 2001. After moving to Dolgeville she was first employed by the Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville. In 1956 she went to work in the Dolgeville Central School cafeteria, retiring from there in 1983 with 27 years of service. She was a faithful and very active member of the former Zion Lutheran Church which is now the United Lutheran ? Presbyterian Parrish. She was a Sunday school teacher, choir member and served as Chairperson of the annual ?Sauerbraten Supper? for many years. Her cakes, pies and breads were cherished by all who enjoyed them. She was also a member of the Dolgeville ? Manheim Historical Society. She is survived by A Son and his wife Paul and Susan Spofford of Little Falls, Her daughters and their husbands Gene Ann and John Hoffman of St. Johnsville, Cheryl and Stephen Trodler of Dolgeville, her Grandchildren Karen and her husband Bill Brandau, John Hoffman II, Brian Spofford and his wife Jill, Laurie Spofford, Paul Ellis, Carrie Ellis and Patrick Ellis, A Great Grandson Will Brandau, her Brothers Carl Schrader and his wife Margaret of Little Falls, Clarence Schrader and his wife Virginia of Hope, Idaho, and a Sister Elizabeth Haak of Dolgeville, Nieces & Nephews. She was predeceased by a Son Alan in 1954. Funeral services will be held Thursday August 25, 2005 at 11 AM at the United Lutheran ? Presbyterian Church on Faville Avenue Dolgeville. The Rev James Paulson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dolgeville Cemetery. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Memorials may be made to the United Lutheran ? Presbyterian Parish in her name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the services. The family wishes to thank everyone for all of their thoughts, prayers, care and support shown for Mom and her family over these final years of her life. We all are sp pleased that she received such excellent care and love by all the nurses and staff on the 4th floor of the Little Falls Hospital.
