Margaret L. Van Gorder, 86 formerly of 1484 Mill Road, St. Johnsville, and most recently of the St. Johnsville Nursing Home, passed away on Friday March 25, 2005 at Little Falls Hospital. She was born September 10, 1918 in St. Johnsville the daughter of the late Garlon & Anna (Jones) Pierce and was educated at St. Johnsville schools. Her marriage to Harwood Van Gorder took place on May 30, 1942 at the St. Johnsville United Methodist Church. Mr. Van Gorder passed away on May 31, 1999. Margaret was a member of St. Johnsville United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, David H. Van Gorder and wife Joanna of St. Johnsville and Robert Van Gorder and wife MaryAnn of St. Johnsville; two sisters, Florence Van Gorder and husband Everett of St. Johnsville and Ruth Petrie and husband Walter of North Syracuse; four grandchildren, MaryJo Van Gorder, Jeff Van Gorder, Heather Battisti and Carrie Putman & husband William; three great grandchildren, Brett Hilts, and Laiken and Kyle Whittridge; and a son-in-law, Albert ?Butchie? Battisti of St. Johnsville, several nieces & nephews and many friends. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Dorcas Battisti on November 23, 2002, and two brothers, Garlon & Thorman Pierce and a sister, Vera Welch. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 30, 2005 at 1:00 pm from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY. Interment will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery later in the spring. Friends & relatives may call at the funeral home on Tuesday March 29, 2005 from 5-8 pm.
