Obituary of Susan Waterman

Susan E. Waterman, 41, of 119 Zoller Ave., Herkimer, originally from Mohawk, passed away at home unexpectedly Friday, February 18, 2005. Susan was born Nov. 1, 1963 in Cooperstown, daughter of the late Harry S. and Patricia S. (Buddie) Barse. She was a graduate of Mohawk High School. On Oct. 30, 1991, she was united in marriage to Kevin J. Waterman at St. Augustine's Church, Ilion. Susan was employed as a corrections officer with the New York State Department of Corrections at the Mohawk Correctional Facility. She was a member of the East Herkimer Sno-Riders Club and enjoyed motorcycling with Kevin. Susan was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister and friend. Her life was centered around her beloved family. Survivors include her loving husband Kevin at home; her beloved children, Dylan and Devin Waterman, at home; her step-son, Christopher Waterman and Jessica Wesscott of Syracuse; and one granddaughter, Kayla Waterman; two sisters, Karen (Barse) Johnston and her husband David and their daughter Megan of Biloxi, Miss., and Kristin (Barse) Smith and her husband Scott of Mohawk, and her children Kevin and Bridgett; her brother, Jason Barse of Ilion and his children Michael and Haley; her mother-in-law, Lois Waterman of Utica; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Geraldine and David Fuller of Utica, and David and Melody Pickett of Utica. She also leaves many extended family members and co-workers and friends including Alexandra Jones, Trisha Lamanna and Paul and Linda Losier. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Kevin Barse, and her father-in-law Gerald Waterman. Family and friends are invited to visitation Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road (between Ilion and Frankfort). Susan's funeral services will be held Tuesday, commencing at 9:45 a.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Francis DeSales Church where the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place in Mohawk Cemetery. The New York State Dept. of Corrections officers will serve as honor guard. Those wishing to do so may consider memorial contributions in Susan's name to an educational trust fund being established for her children. Donation envelopes are available at the funeral home.
