Obituary of Kenneth Williams

Kenneth R. "Ken" Williams, age 77, of 1212 Pinetree Drive, Ilion, a lifelong valley resident, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, February 17, 2005, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. Ken was born June 20, 1927, in Herkimer, son of Robert and Gertrude (Mower) Williams. He attended Herkimer schools. Ken was united in marriage to Arlene E. Doxtader; together they raised five beloved sons. Ken was a professional truck driver for many years, last employed by Nationwide Carriers, based in Minneapolis, Minn. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. Ken was proud of his family and was very supportive of their endeavors in sports, school and their journeys in life. Ken loved football and was a lifelong New York Giants fan. He also enjoyed following the sport of NASCAR racing. Survivors include his wife, Arlene, at home; five beloved sons, David "Dave" Williams and his wife Kathy of Ilion, Donald "Don" Williams and his wife Vicky of Ilion, Mark Williams and his wife Sharon of Hartwick, Andy Williams and Tiffiny Raney of Mohawk and David Strafel and his wife Mary of North Carolina; nine cherished grandchildren, Chris Williams and his wife Sarah, Amy Williams, Matt Williams, Shauna Williams and her fianc? Cory, and Kyle, Karli, Alexandra, Quinton and Rachel Williams; his sister, Kay Hogue and her husband Bill of North Carolina; and his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Edith Hotaling. There are no public calling hours. In keeping with Ken's wishes, his body is being donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at University Medical School, Syracuse. Interment of his remains will take place at a later date and time to be announced. Those wishing to do so may consider memorial contributions in Ken's name to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or the Central New York Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
