Obituary of Warren Wilson

Warren D. Wilson, 80, of 9 Catherine St., Mohawk, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 3, 2005, at home. He was born on August 25, 1924 in Troy, NY, the son of Chester and Irene (DePelli) Wilson. Warren was a graduate of Greenwich High School and attended MVTI. Warren served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On June 7, 1947, he was married to Helen Dunning in Herkimer. She died on July 24, 1989. He later married Harriet (Lamb) Wright. Mr. Wilson was a self-employed carpenter and was an employee at Remington Arms Co., Ilion, for 13 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the American Philatelic Society (stamp collecting), AARP, and former member of the Ilion Moose Lodge. Warren loved to make people laugh and was very sociable. Mr. Wilson enjoyed traveling and always remembered family birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. Survivors include his wife, Harriet; one daughter, Barbara (Wilson) LaBarbera and her husband, Salvatore of E. Herkimer; one son, David Wilson, of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Heather Hicks, Heidi and Daniel Wilson; three great-grandchildren, Casey, Aaron, and Gabriella; two sisters, Mary Smith, of Ilion, Maralyn Hughes, of Whitesboro; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
