Obituary of Edward Wiltse

Edward W. "Ed" Wiltse, 82 of 61 North Division St., St. Johnsville, and formerly a long time Richfield Springs resident passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at Little Falls Hospital. He was born March 13, 1923 in Columbia, NY the son of the late Jesse & Henrietta (Buddle) Wiltse and was educated in Richfield Springs area schools. His marriage to Norma Smith took place on February 25, 1947 in Suffern, NY. Mr. Wiltse was a World War II Army veteran enlisting on December 4, 1942 and was honorably discharged on April 5, 1946 with the rank of Technical Sergeant. Ed was a cabinet maker by trade, and owned and operated his own carpentry business until his retirement in 1985. A man devoted to his family, Ed proved himself as a loving and caring father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ed was a hard working man who in his spare time enjoyed building air boats and air sleds. But most of all he loved to make people laugh with a good joke. Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Norma, 3 daughters, Nancy Carol Yerdon and companion Dean Hull of Burlington Flatts, NY, Patsy Schoff and husband Larry of St. Johnsville, & Virginia Gage and husband Howard of St. Johnsville, 5 grandchildren, Sarah Seamon - Murphy and husband Charles of Nelliston, Kimberly Handy and husband Wayne of St. Johnsville, Todd Seamon and fiancee Michele of Richfield Springs, Kathrine Gage and fiance Jerry Herring of Canajoharie, and Samantha Gage of St. Johnsville, 8 great grandchildren, Noah Handy, Jonathan Handy, Grace Handy, Jacob Handy, Rodney Seamon, Gabrielle Murphy, Julia Herring & Thomas Herring, and many nieces & nephews. He was pre-deceased by a grandson, Monty J. Seamon, a brother Gilbert Wiltse, and a sister Irene Kelly. In keeping with Ed's wishes cremation will take place under the direction of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY. The family will be receiving friends and relatives for a celebration of Ed's life on Sunday September 11, 2005 from 1-4 pm at the Vets Club on Lake Street, Richfield Springs. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
