Obituary of Orilla Youker

Orilla May Remonda (Grandma) Youker, 85 of 1013 Emmonsburg Road, Salisbury Center, entered into eternal rest with her family by her side on Saturday June 25, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born March 19, 1920 in Morehouseville, NY the daughter of the late Fred M. & Eva Mae (Hagadorne) Remonda, and was educated in Hoffmeister and Poland High School. Her marriage to William H. Youker, Sr. took place on February 6, 1938 in the Town of Ohio, by the late Town Justice George Flansburg. The couple were blessed with seven children. They shared a blessed union of 64 years until the passing of Mr. Youker on December 15, 2002. Orilla spent her life working with her husband on their farms. Mrs. Youker was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Salisbury Center. She served the church as a Sunday School Teacher, Missionette sponsor and board member. Orilla enjoyed reading and embroidery, and spent a lot of her time babysitting. She was known as Mom and Grandma by many outside of the family. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her. In December of 2004 Orilla wrote and sent a poem to poetry.com and received the editor's choice award. Her poem was published in a book and also place on a CD with background music. Survivors include a son, William H. Youker, Jr. and wife Earlene of Dolgeville; 5 daughters, Elizabeth (Bette) Comstock and husband Roselle of Salisbury Center; Eleanor (Ellie) Wilhelm and husband Jack of Albany; Carolyn (Carol) Brown and husband Arnold of Dolgeville; Joyce (Jack) Youker of Salisbury Center; & Deborah (Debby) Blow and husband Steven of Albany. She is survived by three sisters-in-law; Cora Lee Remonda of Quincy, Illinois and Dorothy Stanley & Pearl Voorhees both of Little Falls, and a brother-in-law; Leonard Youker of Vickeryville, Michigan. Orilla is survived by 17 grandchildren, George & Sharon Comstock, James & April Comstock, Theresa & William Amthor, Dennis Comstock and companion Michelle, David & Diane Wilhelm, Wayne Wilhelm, Lori Youker, Anita & Brian Daley, Scott Youker, Christine & Herbert Randall, Russell Youker, Joel & Tina Youker, Fred & Donna Brown, Fredricka & Albert Johnson, Lisa Farley and companion Rick, Tim Brown and companion Deb, and James Blow. 38 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many people who have had a special relationship with Orilla, including Tina & John Kelly of Gloversville, Sue & Tim Miles of Stratford, and Barb & Steve Conroy of Salisbury Center. For many years, she and her husband were foster parents with the New York State Division of Youth of Utica, NY. Two of the foster children, Marc Hall and family and Frank Wishart and wife Melinda and daughter Kayle, have kept in close contact with her through the years. At a recent family reunion, a newborn doll was presented to Orilla in memory of her son James Arthur, who died at only three months old, leaving Orilla without a picture of him, Orilla named the doll Franky William Youker. She was pre-deceased by a son, James A. Youker, 2 grandchildren, Faith Brown & Steven Youker her brothers; Howard, George, Rollin, Ralph, & Leonard Remonda and her sisters; Ruth Hall, Edith Jones and Florence Mosher. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 29, 2005 at 11: 00 am from the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Salisbury Center with Reverend Robert Brent, pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Salisbury Rural Cemetery. Following services at the cemetery the family will be receiving friends and relatives at the home of Bette & Roselle Comstock, 701 Emmonsburg Road, Salisbury Center. Friends and relatives may call at the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church on Tuesday June 28, 2005 from 5-8:30 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family in memory of Orilla. Envelopes will be available at the Church.
